From Galway Bakers to The Wolfhound
Emigrating from Co. Galway, Ireland with their mother- 6 sisters made their home here in Chicago and began their lives in a new city and new country. With them, they brought the traditional recipes and baking methods that had been done for generations in Ireland. After many years of wholesale baking, festivals, and supplying more weddings and Christmas parties than they can remember- the son of one of the bakers began the processing of opening a bar and kitchen in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. With a full commercial kitchen readily available- the Galway Bakers moved into The Wolfhound and now bake full time in the space! We supply cakes, breads, scones and more for special events, we supply Irish shops across the city, and offer regular baking services for other restaurants. Stop in during the week while we bake and walk out with a fresh loaf and a bit of traditional Irish baking history!
